He's already in Boston with Bohemka and his family. We're just finishing our story a bit belatedly. One more episode to come. SC appointment got in the way :-)

The other concern is: How do you handle the terrible feeling of loss after he leaves?? Will I sink into depression and have to go somewhere wayyyyyyy down south where there are penguins?

The void is palpable. We regret the places we didn't take him because driving was nasty. We constantly are saying "Lost would have loved this!" or that or the other thing. But we've found that a good, hearty bowl of soup helps :-)

Not too far south ΓΆ€” the world's cutest penguins live right on the Equator in the Galapagos ...

Incidentally, I have renamed the thread to make it more easily findable and to better reflect the ongoing nature of Lost's journey :-)

Post Deleted. I misunderstood who PennyStreet's question was addressed to.

Hope he had a good stay. Even though we did not get a chance to do any of the super touristy things I had initially planned. Maybe catch a game at MSG and visit Rockfeller. I was hoping this would be a good excuse to do some of those myself. Which we didn't get to do. I won't go into excuses but it was fun. People did stop and watch (more like gaze) while I put this tiny penguin around all these little nooks around shops, etc. Japanese tourists did chuckle once or twice :)

Not edited in order but here's a sneak peak of half of the images. Was planning on posting them all at once. I'll edit when I have more over the next couple of evenings.

Lost made it to the beach but decides to play hide and seek constantly

Guess he was hiding from some stray dog

I think one of his favorite parts of the visit was a local candy store:

He wasn't trying to get into trouble but couldn't help himself (full size image link looks better)

On a bit of sugar rish with all the candy in his belly

And maybe gained a few grams?

We later went to walk if off at the park. To be continued...

Here's a website ToyVoyagers where people take photos of travelling toys, blog and whatnot. No doubt there are other similar websites.

When this journey is complete I will need a selection from each person to go into the book with a small write up too. I will start a thread about it when we get nearer to his finish but he is having a great time. Next I am going to send myself around to visit you lot.

I won't be spoiling him! I plan to whip him into shape Marine Corps style. :)

Here's the finish of Lost's Cape Cod sojourn:

*******************

The next day we went searching for a cranberry bog that actually had cranberries in it: Lost, for some reason, is fascinated by cranberries. We didn't find what we were looking for, since all the bogs are iced in, but Lost was quite emphatic in pointing out that these collapsing ice sheets resembled, on a much smaller scale, the floes of his Antarctic home.

A little later we drove over this very old wooden drawbridge, the last remaining single-lift wooden drawbridge on the East Coast. Lost wasn't much interested in the HISTORY, but he sure loved the MACHINERY. He was quite peeved when we wouldn't let him raise the bridge...

Next we dropped in at the library. We're not sure Lost was clear on the concept, but he sure was cute :-)

While we took care of our grownup library business, Lost snuck away and got involved in a council-of-war with Lincoln, Grant, and Stanton. He's a rascal, that one...

For his final stop on the Cape, saving the best for last (according to Lost), we took him to visit John F. Kennedy. He was quite moved. Apparently JFK is a legendary figure among penguins because of his involvement in being sure Antarctica was kept unclaimed by any nation.

Finally, after a wonderful, if too short, visit, we stopped with Lost on the banks of the cape Cod Canal in the shadow of the Sagamore Bridge so we might bid him (and he us) a proper farewell. Then we drove him to Boston, where he's now hanging out with Bohemka.

*************

Farewell, Lost! Enjoy the rest of your journey. Drop us a card when you can! We love you!

Hey, Lost had no problem googling 'how to make blackberry liqueur' when he visited the library with me...he must've been messing with you! Great to see his recognizes the importance of various historical figures and draws attention to their achievements, especially the less-heralded ones.

Lost Lives! ...wait, you know what I mean. This is good news.

We've just recently emerged from a month-long pummeling of polar vortexes and my how time flies. Lost has been kickin' it in Boston as the weather has suited him just fine. But it has been WAY too long. Fortunately, for those who care about him and his travels, the temperature has risen above arctic, so he has headed for the hills of western Massachusetts.

I have many photos to post. I've held off a bit because he made some cheeky appearances in some challenges. More to come later, but I'll start with this one, taken at Castle Island the day after he arrived. Shot facing west, you can see the mighty Boston skyline on the horizon to the right.

More soon.

Lost just arrived in Williamstown, MA, USA. I don't know who informed him of the local attractions, but he plans on being busy for the next few days.

NOTE: He is dirty! Looks like he ate spaghetti without using a bib. Also he was asking where I kept the liquor!

Now that I have a chance to take a closer look - he has a pouch...but it was empty. I don't think I can send him on that way. Also he has taken to some of my music already so a CD of his favorite tunes will be going on with him as well. Unfortunately he has taken my magic pad to be his own little perch. He has requested that we all sign a portrait. I will take one and send that along as well. He has a busy weekend planned.

Another person pampering his mercilessly! I'm going to have to plan some really big things for him!

Note to the wise: you can slip a stone or something heavy in that pouch to stabilize him if it gets windy :-) Also, hopefully he still has his own little plastic camera with him?
