I just came across a reference to this exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum.
While, I see the exhibit ended yesterday, CBS news gives us 13 images from the collection.

(Yes, Virginia, there was photo manipulation before Photoshop.)

That's pretty cool. Hope these exhibits travel 'west of the Rockies' one of these days.
