Hey all
Just read in the local paper that a local couple, Julie Lafreniere and Gilles Cordier, are going to Kentucky in early February for the UCI World Elite Cyclo-Cross Championships. As it so happens I know Gilles professionally from my horse days.
The paper failed to list details like where in KY the competition is taking place, but it should be pretty easy to Google, esp as it is apparently the first World Elite race to be held outside of Europe.
I have never seen cyclo-cross, but it sounds like it could be a fun shoot for someone who likes to shoot sports and is in the area at the right time. |

Can be a great sport to see and to take pictures of. The sport is quite popular in Holland and in Belgium. If you like to take some great action shots, definitely go and see the race, especially when the weather is bad and the crossers must run through layers of mud.

Reminds me that I shot some pics of a local cross race several months back and other than one shot that did mediocre here on DPC, I haven't touched them yet. Need to get around to that.

Yeah, it looks like a good excuse to get dirty! Gilles is originally from Belgium so not surprised it's popular there, he's riding in the Masters, Julie in the Elite Women. Must keep my eyes open for any kind of local cyclo-cross in the future in the area, in the right conditions should be a blast to shoot.
