Thank you for your responses.

I'm not exactly sure what you mean by noise. Kindly let me know what noise is. The background is pretty non-descript, I thought the background looked OK. What is it that I have failed to see?

With regard to the writing for stock, how could that be improved? Did I miss something?

Noise is the texture in the background, it is from high ISO setting; in analogue times it was called grain and sometimes looked good; digital noise is usually unwanted.

A decent description for stock could be "Horizontal portrait of mature man (50-60) in white T-Shirt contemplating, hand in front of his mouth; backlighting, shallow depth of field"
