One of my guilty pleasures, but since I'm going "low-cholesteral", I'm right there with you Juliet. :-( |
studies show that high cholesterol is more a product of family history and trans fat foods than animal fats. I eat two eggs everyday for breakfast and i live on bloody red meat, bacon, ham, sausage, cheese etc. and my cholesterol is normal. i also dont eat cereal, muffins, donuts, french fries, potato chips and absolutely no fast food, etc.
my wife on the other hand eats very healthy, only a little read meat, tons of fruits and veggies and again no fast foot and very very little junk food like me, and if she didn't exercise twice as much as i do (which is a lot) would need to be on cholesterol medication.

Oh, I know all that Mike - I am not a Dr but am married to one. :-) Studies show that you can lower your LDL by 10%-20% by changing to a low cholesterol diet and since my dad died at 46 and my brother had a triple bypass at 51, I thought I better at least try it and see if it will work for me. |

medication works better, my uncle had a heart attack, never exercises, lives at the bar and eats food that would make Paula Deen cringe, and has the lowest cholesterol in my family we are aware of!
Sad isnt it? |

Yes, many factors are involved in heart attacks besides low cholesterol but, since this is one factor I can try to control without resorting to medication first and any of its possible side effects, I thought I'd give it a go. |
