How about a gravity challenge, take a picture that show the effects of gravity?

Its kinda abstract.

Even more challenging, how about a pic that doesn't show the effects of gravity? ;-)

ooh! any physicists here?

what would you do to express "no gravity"...hmmm...

sidebar: as a child i used to like to think about what things would be like with absolutely no friction. i started out with how it would be interesting to not be able to touch anything (like my keyboard - fingers would just slide off...) what about walking down the street? driving? but it quickly spiraled into questions about form and evolution and then the creation of the cosmological bodies and you begin to realize that probably nothing would ever come about.

Here's a wording suggestion for Gravity....

Gravity: the downward force which pulls things near earth toward it at accellerating speeds. Your challenge is to submit a picture that shows gravity at work on an object, in a way that is visibly apparent. Remember: Objects at rest aren't considered accelerating, so a picture of something that seems to be sitting still can't be considered viable.

(Note: I would love to see this one as a basic challenge, so that motion blur filters are kept at a minimum...)

What about something that is falling but has reached terminal velocity (ie, a skydiver). Would that fail to meet the challenge since it is no longer accelerating?

;)

You're a mean one, Mr. Trinch ;)

I suggested something similar to this awhile ago, here. It seems to boil down to physics though, when the discussion gets into the potential ways of portraying gravity.

Side note: something must be wrong with the forum search when a search for the word "gravity" does not find a thread only a few months old.

This would be a good entry for a gravity challenge.

So would a pic of a cemetery work?

** snickers **

I wonder how long it'll take for that one to sink in...
