Hello darkness my old friend...

Sun is setting in Germany and still nothing unusual; I guess the Mayans didn't consider the leap years :D

doesn't the Mayan calendar have 21 days? if so the end of the world is tonight.

You know what, the end of the world feels very much like it did yesterday.

But then again, have we not go through the end of the world like 8 times including doomsady lol

OMG...I woke up this morning and looked out the window. Nothing but cold bleak dismal black and white desolation. Cars in ditches, buses tipping over on their sides, hardly any signs of life on the streets as people cowered indoors hoping it would all end soon....yet I, one of the intrepid few, dare to venture out in thick deep mush that sticks like glue and turns streets to grease...especially if you don't have your snow tires on.

Yeah, the first big snowstorm of the year always f**ks people over, even though here in Ottawa it shouldn't. Not if you have half a brain.

Yeah, i too braved the snowstorm here in town, cleared off the car and drove 90 minutes to get 5 highway exits and to work.
Doing tech support at a government office....50% or more are not in. i've got a nice slow day - hoping they tell us to go home early.

I heard the reports about the cars in ditches and took a backroad (hence the extra time). Did about 40 km/h with steady moving traffic and no incidents. After the past 2 weekends getting freezing rain you would assume people would be ready for winter driving here.

I'm pretty sure the Mayan calendar is more "accurate" than the Gregorian calendar in common use today ... though I'm not familiar with the exact technique they used.

The difference between an optimist and a pessimist is that, while the optimist wants to live in the best of all possible worlds, the pessimist is pretty sure that this is it.

it's funny that we don't have a "world is going to end because there are no more days in our calendar after december 31st" fit every year, so why are we doing it about the mayan calendar? :)

Because it's unversally considered to be more accurate?

This morning when I woke up I heard a knock at my door.

It was some Mayans trying to sell me a new calendar.
