I kinda' got a bit overwhelmed here a few minutes ago
thinking back on how our PC technology have grown. I can
still remember getting a 14.4 modem and thinking it was
really something. (and even remember using 5 1/4" floppies
to boot up the PC too!)
At this moment, I have 3 browser windows open, Photoshop
rendering, a shop management program running via a network
between 2 PC's, accessing info on 4 hard drives, emailing seven 1MB
images across the ocean over to Italy, and still checking email once
every minute.
Multi-tasking is an amazing thing isn't it?
Seems like not so long ago, it was
one......thing......at......a......time...... and then there was there
dreaded try to print something - go off and do something
else while THAT was in progress.
Amazing to stop and think of how this is all really
happpening now.
The magic smoke in these boxes. Wow!

You're a little older than me Brad, so I know you remember the heady days. My first computer had no hard drive and I remember when I bought my 300 "baud" modem how thrilled I was to be able to dial into a local BBS. I was livin' on the bleeding edge! |

I used to have an alternative start up screen that said, 'Windows is starting up. Why don't you go get a sandwich or something...'

I remember taking Cobol programming in college (in 1970's) and having to punch out all those 1000's of cards (1 for every line) and having to feed them into the HUGE giant machine which filled a whole, temperature controlled, room.
Also remember dropping the cards so they got out of order and the many hours spent to get them back in order.
