If I see my score I think I've done something wrong, but still don't know what.

Holy liftin. With *Christmas spirit* like this, who needs enemies? Small wonder the number of challenge entries has been shrinking. :-(

It's the holidays take it easy on me.

I'm not letting my low score get me down I'm going to try and comment on as many shots as I can. Ya know for the holidays.

I was really hoping someone would have done something cool, like Puerto Rican mayor of San Juan. His cards are awesome.

Description: Create a holiday card of you and/or family that you would send out to relatives and friends.

There seem to be quite a few entries with no animate subjects at all. Did I miss something?
12/12/2012 12:55:57 PM · #11
This IS the card I created and sent out to my family. I didn't include myself, my wife or son because I don't send those cards out.
Not everybody has a "family" to photograph and sends cards out, so they would be hard pressed to meet criteria. I don't see why something like this is getting scores based on description when "pretty pictures without meeting description" score so highly in other challenges.
Anyways vote how you want but know that not everybody can or want to put their family on display.

I changed the challenge guidelines in my head to read "create a holiday card to send to your friends and family".
That's the criteria I'm using to vote in this challenge.
To me they all meet the challenge.
I have a family but for personal reasons it's best I leave them out of public forums. I figure some people may have simmilar situations or just choose not to post their families.

DNMC nazis are having a feast. This much for Christmas spirit.

Down to 4.9s..... depressing that I thought this might actually have a chance at a new PB.
Nygold gave my only comment and I greatly appreciate it.

No DNMC votes from me, just shitty entries. There's a big difference.

No score for me. Starting with the Christmas cards this weekend, so no entry :( Good luck all!

I cannot believe everyone posting here is so low... I'm below 5 now, too. Are the voters just being extra hash b/c of the topic?

If I didn't have a previous DQ to consider, I'd pull my entry and say "Bah Humbug!"

As long as the voters are consistant it's not a problem with me.

If a person gets a blue ribbon with a score of 5.5 or something like that I don't think they'll be giving it back.

Right now I'm alot closer to brown than blue.

Up to 5.02 and 3 comments.
Thing is- I really like my entry and just hope others do too.
Merry Christmas DPCland!

Didn't enter, but voted... several really good, several really bad and a most were meh. Nice sentiment, but bad photos, etc... I was shocked at my average, I thought I'd given more 6s and 7s than lower scores (none sub 4 that I recall)

Nice but I didn't enter because it said family. How were people to know?
And no, I haven't voted yet. I rarely consider DNMC when voting but I rarely miss entering a challenge either.
I have photos in the timeframe that do not include me or my family but thought they weren't on topic.

I figured what's the worst that can happen I get a low score, I have a bunch of those already.

You have rated 39 of 39 images (100%) in this challenge.
You have given an average score of 7.2051.

Wish I had seen some of these terrific ideas before I used Costco to slap mine together this year. ;)

Wow, I've crawled up to 5.3xxx territory. So impressed. Would pull my image, except that there's nothing wrong with it - I like it, shot every element in the pic and spent hours putting it together. Compared to my previous Expert-level entries, it's a meisterwerk.

Pity the voters can't/don't appreciate all the hard work. Voted this morning, generously. Even those to which I would normally give a 5 got a 6 or higher, because at least I appreciate the effort and let's face it, guts, to enter an Expert challenge.

*rant over*
