I'm experiencing some weirdness and need some help getting things back to normal. I'm using 17.0.1 under Windows 7 Professional.
This is what used to happen:
I would put a link in a post, then click the [Preview] button to test it out. Another smaller browser window would open up, giving me the post preview. If I clicked the link, that link would open up in a new tab in my original Firefox browser.
check this out
This is what is happening now:
When I click the [Preview] button, another smaller browser window opens up, BUT it's content is empty! And it immediately pushes the preview content onto a new tab in my original Firefox browser, leaving the smaller browser sitting there. It has an address of "about:blank"
Any clues? Thanks! |

That's very odd... Penny uses FireFox, lemme check.
ETA: She's still on 16.2, and it works as intended, can't help you with 17... By the time she installs that (someday) you'll have figured it out.

I don't have access to FF at the mo, I've migrated to Chrome. I know that in the FF settings, most likely in Advanced, there are choices to control whether pages can generate a pop-up. I suspect that FF is not allowing the site to generate the pop-up page. You may have to scroll through the settings and look for the offending checkbox.
When I get home, I can take a gander. I'll try updating FF to v17 on one of my machines there. |

RESOLVED
i started in safe mode and found that i did have an add-on that was the culprit. i didn't realize it was there, but it was added when i upgraded my dragon naturally speaking (it includes "rich internet application support").
we're all good here, up-to-date, moving on.
thanks for the assistance! |

my washing machine was acting up yesterday so we called a repair man, his solution was to unplug it and see if it fixed the problem. it didn't. he said he didnt know what the problem was so he left.
i swear that's a true story.
