Great, perfect .... I need a model for this one, I'll shoot you June.

Just hop on a plane to Australia, your expense sorry, and I'll supply drink (coffee, flat Pepsi or orange juice by the look of my fridge) and I can probably find an old sandwich for your trouble as well.

I don't joke when it comes to carnivorous activities! ;p

Does it really matter if it wasn't a joke?

Hm...I'm sure I can come up with something...question is if I'll be able to get a "model" to come meet me at campus or pick me up so we can leave it. *cries*

I think fairy tales might require some decent editing, so it should be a member challenge.

I don't think "good" is good enough for this challenge.

Personally, as fun as it would be for everyone to enter this challenge, I agree with making it a member challenge for the fact that editing is allowed, and I think making skin smooth and colors more vivid will play a huge role in this challenge. Just my opinion...

I dunno about the rest of you .. but it really bothers me when non-members get on here and start complaining because they can't enter member challenges .. the solution is pretty simple. And if for some reason they can't become a member .. then just don't complain about it and accept it =/

my membership paid for itself this year - and i imagine it does for others too. especially if you spend more time editng photos, and less bitching about things easily attainable - but for some odd reason still out of reach for a few.

you can bite me first - and then see if you can get away.

I know first hand it's not easy to fork over $25. I can barely afford lunch & rent and have zero budget for 'fun' activities. But, luckily, I got some birthday money and bought this membership with it less than a year ago! So, I must be sympathetic to non-members who cannot afford it. However, it is true that members should have benefits. I, as a member, am so happy to be able to have a store on DPCprints and also be able to photoshop my work, which really helps since my crappy lenses don't do my 10D any justice. By the way, I know photography is an expensive habit, and how does a poor girl like me afford a 10D... I came into some money and spent it on myself back in January, instead of investing for my future... stupid, maybe since my lenses suck and I haven't made money on my photos yet, but I am quite hopeful, and with photoshop by my side, maybe I can win a ribbon and a place on the featured prints page!!!!

Sorry for babbling. I just wanted to say that I see both sides.

For the amount of time I spend on this site, $25 is well worth it. I'd gladly give up a couple dinners out or a few movie rentals in exchange for full participation here. And oh, am I ever poor. Student loans are my only income. :)

But back to the point, this challenge is goint to have some amazing entries in the top spots. I can hardly wait until next weekend to see what the talent here comes up with! I'm glad advanced editing is allowed. Those with the skills are really going to shine!

Edited for typos.

If every challenge was an Open Challenge with advanced editing, no-one would bother with membership. I paid cos I wanted to enter all challenges, regardless of what the final result is, it's a personal challenge.

I am not looking on getting a return by selling photos to cover the cost of membership. I just felt it was worth paying out for to allow me access to Member Challenges and Forum.

For sure, I see both sides too. I was a non-member for only a short time and I DID have a hard time giving out 25 dollars when I didn't even know if I would stay active in the site. BUT of course it was totally worth it and I wouldn't take it back.

Yeah, during my work day, I spend soooooo much time here...looking at photos, getting inspired, reading about hardware, posting in the forums!!! It's so great!

Muwhahahahahahahahaa....

This couldn't have come at a better time!

The Michigan Renaissance Festival is going on right now!

Not only do I have the opportunity to photograph interesting displays of mounted 'knights' jousting. I also can photograph all sorts of interesting people dressed up as faeries, faries, elves, fay-folk, fey-folk, nymphs, strange Gothic Demon-Things and of course Jedi Knights (Yes, Jedi Knights. I saw a few last year.) and all sorts of other interesting 'things'. I know I repeated myself, but some of those people are pretty adamant about their choice of spelling for the fantasy being they represent...

DPC Prints is worth the $25 to me alone, let alone being happy to benefit from DPChallenge member stuff and simply being happy to send some money back to Drew and Langdon who provide a pretty wonderful site.

And a lot of it IS free / not membership restricted.

There are costs involved in running even 100% free sites - hosting and domain name registration and so on. I don't begrudge the $25 at all.

I can see how it must be frustrating for non members to have seen FT briefly posted as an Open challenge before it was pulled and later posted as a Members challenge but... you can't really complain too much about something when you're not paying for it. It makes more sense to keep members happy than to keep non-contributing particpants happy and sometimes it's just not possible to do both!

PS Anyone want to visit my prints today? ;o)
