Hey

This member (Hi btw) mentioned bad technique one of which being shutter speed.

I'm new to photography, and am wondering why a long shutter speed may be bad technique with that sort of photo? Given that the objects are still.. why shouldn't you use long shutter speeds (could even cut down on your ISO by reducing the speed)!

The person probably means the photo is over-exposed (blown highlights) due to a longer-than necessary shutter-speed. Too-high ISO will also contribute to that effect, while also adding more digital noise.

FWIW I don't have much in the way of lighting available, so some of my better still-life shots have been shot in low light with a long shutter speed (can't use high ISO because of horrible noise) ...
