I'm running in circles. At this point it is only a question of technical problems and principles.
One of my images does not get properly to the Administrators to be validated and they get it "altered by QuickTime"
I was asked to submit original for proof 4 times since I'm at DPC. Had same problem once when scalvert helped me, as he is doing now, to try all kinds of methods to manage to upload the original. To no avail.
I'm on a mac, iPhoto. Last time I uploaded directly from the iPhoto Library where I found it and dragged it to the desktop.
Does anybody have or had the same problem?
It annoys me as only computer problems can do it, independently of possible disqualification. I do not have to submit for validation too often since I am not close to the top so this is truly not a weekly problem, nevertheless, I would like to find a way to solve it. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.
Thanks |

If you used iPhoto to transfer the images from your camera to the computer, then the software that did the transfer has marked the file that it handled it and there is no way for the SC to verify that the file is unaltered. The only way to make sure the original image is intact is to transfer from the memory card using the computer's file manager ("Finder" on a Mac).
Do you still have the image on the memory card? Upload it from that.

That's why I don't use iPhoto or any other photo transfer software.
I open the card's original folder and drag and drop from there.

Yes Steve, by some luck I have it still on my card. I downloaded again to iPhoto and ... same result. |

Do not use iPhoto. Mount the card and drag the file to your hard drive. |

Try opening the folder itself and drag and drop to your computer, rather than downloading to iPhoto

Some things you can do.
Go to:
Your HD >Pictures >Right click on Iphoto Library >Click on Show Package Contents >Originals.
Your uploaded photos should be in there sorted by year, then day.
-Or-
in iPhoto:
Select your shot >File >Export
Under the drop down menu titled "Kind", click on Original. Click Export >Under the drop down menu "Where", select desktop.
You should be able to use that file to upload to dpc.
You do have the file on your card so that's good. Like GeneralE said, you can mount the card and drag the file to your desktop that way.
Hope this helps. |

This is exactly what I do.
Not that I'm really worried about having to submit proof, as I can't even break into the 6s. BUT... in the off chance that I am asked for validation (which happened in my first challenge ever entered) I want to make sure I have the original

I use aperture and its the same for Lightroom (i use both) they are both non destructive editors so you can just export the raw and upload it never had a problem on about 7 or 8 verifications |

Thank you all. Danielle, Paul and Steve, I tried it like the way you mentioned right now. Hope it works. (silly iPhoto!) I'll get back to you
Mark, I already tried unsuccessfully the 2 methods you gave.

Oh, strange why the files would be modified. I've submitted proof using those files before and they were fine.
Definitely good that you still have the originals on the card. |
