The last Halloween challenge we had was in 2009 Halloween III

We had one on pumpkins, Halloween songs, and just Halloween but I don't remember one where the theme is costumes/trick or treaters specific.

Halloween Costumes ---Edited to Add; See Post #10 for alternate idea

A Halloween theme for October 31st where the trick or treaters are not the only ones dressed for the occasion.

I would like to see this happen. Not sure I would do it personally but I would like to see it regardless.

+1 from me.

Just the more generic "costumes" would be better, I'd think. People in other parts of the world don't "do" Halloween - or at least not the way it's done in the US.

I'm curious, is there any holiday or special day that calls for dressing up that is like Halloween in Netherlands?

I know some myths and customs share some roots that is why I ask if there may be something similiar. I know that there is All Souls Day on where early Christians would walk from village to village begging for "soul cakes," made out of square pieces of bread with currants.

heh don't think so, the southern part of Holland celebrates carnaval and 80% of the country dresses in orange on queensday ;p

I had to look that up to learn about it. It is very interesting that the festival also had the beginning roots stem from going house to house collecting food, wearing masks and making noise. Quite a few traditions have a shared core.

In the interest of getting more DPCer's on board perhaps the challenge could instead be:

Halloween, All Souls Day, cultural festivals and other holidays all have celebrations where participants dress in costume for the festivities. Be it trick or treating, costume parties, carnival, parades show us your festive spirit by capturing a person or people dressed in costume.
