Got a couple OK shots, but they're only OK. Don't want to deliberately enter an image that I feel is weak, so will probably pass.

First attempt - bitten on legs by ants getting some shots
Second attempt - bitten on arms by mosquitoes getting some shots
Third attempt - got rained on and later had wildlife hitch a ride.

I'm in. It will be what it will be:-)

Good luck to all who enter. Looking forward to seeing what everyone found:-)

I'm hating hating hating minimal editing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some of the trees I found were worthy of so much more. :(

+1... i like the constraints to force me to compose better, but i agree the limited pp is not what the trees deserve ;-\

So, edit the heck out of it and post the before/after versions in the out-takes thread after the voting.

That's the problem. I didn't take a lot of the shots I would have because they wouldn't work in minimal. :(

But I'll still play with some. :)

+1 Every shot I took just looks so wishy washy and bland without being able to do anything with the contrast.

So far, we're up to 116 entries in this minimal challenge. We're getting a far better turn out for submissions than a lot of the other challenges. I don't think at all that we should do away with minimal!

I would guess that there would have been just as many in advanced or even basic.

Just checked the stats:

over 100 entries in recent challenges:

negative space
street photography
off-center subject

You just need to find a challenge that's accessible. Trees are. :)

Yes, it's not because it's minimal that there are a lot of entries. It's just that trees are everywhere and everyone can come up with something.

I made it my mission tonight to get something entered. My legs were sore from racing this morning, so I didn't venture far.

I'm in. First challenge since blue moon. Guess my update finger was getting twitchy.

Nothing special, but even being able to do a slight curves adjustment and vibrance boost makes a huge difference in the shot.

Although it sure would be nice if resize, sharpen, save for web was the extent of my workflow. I have so many pictures sitting in lightroom as RAW that have never been processed.

Finally submitted.
I need a basic lesson in resizing with Elements 9.
Sized first and then sharpened...that increased the file size over the limit... so had to start again... sharpened first and then resized through organizer, but difficult as file size is not written in Kb but in M... had to re do a few times, each time starting with the original so as not to violate the minimal rules.
Anyone have a simple way to resize for dpc using Elements?

For minimal... image>resize>800 on high side> sharpen>save for web
for others same except I do resize 1300> sharpen> resize 800> unsharp mask > save for web

Well, I've been dealing with some chemical burns on my face... So I failed to enter like a douche after suggesting this. A quick glance through though has really impressed me, the quality here seems outrageous.

Refreshing to see 124 entries. Many quality photos demonstrating a lot of creativity. This is wonderful to see people demonstrating their skills at camera use.
