Does anyone on site council know how many photographers are still active and participate on a regular basis? It really surprised me when I saw that the total is at 25,399. Thanks.

I was just thinking about this yesterday! We've just crossed the 1400 paid member mark, up from 850 last December. We're on a pace to double in 2004.
The number of total users is somewhat misleading since accounts are not removed. That means anyone who ever signed up is still listed as a user, even though they may not have logged in for years.
It would be nice to have a statistic for "total users last 24 hours" and mauybe "total users last 30 days" or something like that. I'm not aware of any available statistic that currently would tell us what the true level of "active" users is. D&L would prolly have to do a database query specifically on that.

You are exactly right. I have an old account that I could not remember the password and could not obtain it. Never used that old account except for just viewing. I never voted or entered a challenge with it. I had to sign up with a new account to get on DPChallenge. I wish I could delete that old account but don't know how.
I thank that is one reason for so many users aswell.

I haven't submitted since March of this year, and December before that. Just busy doing other things, but I read and participate in the forums and do some voting also. I'll start submitting again one of these days. I printed out about 40 of my pics, mostly 8x10's and some 5x7's, ordered a 16x20 and 6x30 from DCPrints, and I'm about to hang them in my computer room at home. When I'm done with that and a few projects around the house I will start entering challenges again.
So, don't delete me yet!!!

Oh NO..I don't want anyone deleted that still logs on from time to time. I think what the original poster wanted to say was the accounts that are never active (such as 1 year or so and no activity) or in my case my old account that cant be removed.
