Technically speaking, that is incorrect. Moron was originally a term referring to intelligence. Idiot and imbecile were also and each denoted a certain range of IQ. Current definitions merely speak to a person being "stupid". |
my original statement was not incorrect. if you would notice, I specifically said ONE of the definitions.
the original term "moron" was used referring to intelligence, referring to IQ and having a child-like mind.
it was a psychology term way back when.
NOW the term happens to refer to mental capability AND judgement (or lack there of) as I stated.
but thanks for trying to clear that up |
No problem. Just afraid you were being a moron in your choice of words... |

As an outsider, here's my take on the Republicans and their take on Obama:
"We left him a total mess. He hasn̢۪t cleaned it up fast enough. So fire him and put us back in."

interesting.
I do think there were points when both candidates were "under pressure", "nervous", etc.
like Biden and his over compensating smile... just makes it seems that he's covering up lies, and his stuttering... nerves cause he couldn't answer.
but Ryan said that one line OVER and OVER. about how if voters wont believe your speech, put fear in them about the other opponent. saying it once or twice makes sense... but repeatedly made it sound like a cop out.
he was also out on the spot about HOW they were going to initiate the tax breaks. sure, 20% sounded great... but when asked HOW it was going to be implemented/how it would work/policies and proceedures with the metrics of it... he couldn't give a straight answer. worrisome.
overall... both had some good points and moments of difficulty.
me? if I WAS voting... it would be for Romney...
but I would choose the grocery bagger at the local store over Obama.
(any fyi ... that's a joke... don't be so literal. but I do despise Obama that much. just saying.) |
im a Romney supporter and i feel as if Ryan was completely overmatched. i didn't get the impression that Biden was nervous at all, when he responded he was very succinct, very informed. he knew exactly what he was talking about and he believed it himself. His laughing, if not sincere, was a brilliant way to win over the audience with "what you are saying is laughable and way off base". a couple of times he stopped his laughing and gave stare of disbelief to what Ryan just said, a "haha, that's dumb, that's wrong, that's... wait, what? wtf? you seriously just said that??" kind of look.
Ryan, when pressed, avoided committing to specifics and Biden called him on it a couple of times, jumping on top of Radditz'z pressure.
The only way Ryan would have one was to provide specifics, answer the questions, which he never did. he kept circling, circling never landing that "take that" zinger. he had a few good lines but Biden deflected them all.
Obama owes Biden big time. |
I agree that there were times when Biden's expressions were as you stated... however... I got the impression he was trying to "laugh it off" due to being put in a rough spot. I DO think that Ryan could have done better. But I like the "sarcastic/smart @ss" approach Ryan took. I think that Biden is a complete moron, but he's a good manipulator, which is what wins it over in politics.
Unfortunately, that manipulation is what keeps the voters "dumbed down" and Obama's numbers higher.
But, that's just my opinion.
Gotta say, however, I LOVED when Ryan said to Biden "Sometimes the words come out of your mouth the wrong way". Biden looked shocked! Haha |
This is proof that we see things the way we want to. I saw this exchange as a nervous Ryan trying to say a smarmy jab at Biden for being Biden.
But it was uttered in the context of Biden calling out Romney for the infamous "47 percent" "misstatement"
Ryan said his line- and then Biden said "at least I mean what I say" which was a multi-layered attack at Romney- his credibility, his flip-flopping and insinuating that he actually did mean the silly things he said...
But, you may have missed all this if you were like my conservative friends on facebook posting stupid pictures during the debate.

Nope, I got that.
But it's just politicians taking jabs at one another.
Like I stated before... Neither of them did wonderful, nor terrible.
They both made some valid points.
They both had instances where they were "hung up" on the question... and running in circles.
But that's politics for you.
And Venser, I completely disagree with your statement. It's not that the Republicans left a mess for him to clean up and he didn't do it fast enough... it's that he hasn't followed through with his "claims". It was a mess far before Obama went into office. it was a mess before the "Bush Administration". It has been a mess for years and years and years... and with each president in office, it's only taking a turn for the worst.
I may be a conservative... but don't think that I don't see the flaws in EVERY politician that runs. EACH and EVERY one of them has their flaws. EACH and EVERY one of them will lie, or "stretch the truth" to simply get into office. EACH and EVERY one of them are manipulators, some better than others.
Bush was, by no means, without fault. He made mistakes, as each president before him has, and each president after him will.
What we need is someone to get into office that will DO WHAT THEY SAY. Someone that will not sugar coat things, or blindside people. Someone who is truly there. Will the budget be cleaned up in one term? Of course not. And anyone who thinks that ONE president will be able to fix EVERYTHING that's been done either has the wool pulled over their eyes, or is a complete and total imbecile.
It's going to take decades to correct the problems that occurred decades ago.
And trust me, it's not that I particularly "like" Romney, or Ryan for that matter, it's that I have a conservative viewpoint. And it just so happens that their views match better with mine than Obama's does.
That's all.

I would have no problem with this statement were it not for the fact that the views expressed by Romney and Ryan seem to be a moving target.
I have no dog in this fight, but do earnestly believe that what I am hearing from Romney now is nowhere near what he was saying a while back.

Excerpt from article:
"The Romney/Ryan ticket decided, with incredible cynicism, that that they were going to promise this massive tax break, not explain how to pay for it, and then just hang on until election day, knowing that most of the political press would let it skate, or at least not take a dump all over it when explaining it to the public. Unchallenged, and treated in print and on the air as though it were the same thing as a real plan, a 20 percent tax cut sounds pretty good to most Americans. Hell, it sounds good to me.
"The proper way to report such a tactic is to bring to your coverage exactly the feeling that Biden brought to the debate last night: contempt and amazement. We in the press should be offended by what Romney and Ryan are doing – we should take professional offense that any politician would try to whisk such a gigantic lie past us to our audiences, and we should take patriotic offense that anyone is trying to seize the White House using such transparently childish and dishonest tactics.
"I've never been a Joe Biden fan. After four years, I'm not the biggest Barack Obama fan, either (and I'll get into why on that score later). But they're at least credible as big-league politicians. So much of the Romney/Ryan plan is so absurdly junior league, it's so far off-Broadway, it's practically in New Jersey.
"Paul Ryan, a leader in the most aggressively and mindlessly partisan Congress in history, preaching bipartisanship? A private-equity parasite, Mitt Romney, who wants to enact a massive tax cut and pay for it without touching his own personal fortune-guaranteeing deduction, the carried-interest tax break – which keeps his own taxes below 15 percent despite incomes above $20 million?
"The Romney/Ryan platform makes sense, and is not laughable, in only one context: if you're a multi-millionaire and you recognize that this is the only way to sell your agenda to mass audiences. But if you're not one of those rooting gazillionaires, you should laugh, you should roll your eyes, and it doesn't matter if you're the Vice President or an ABC reporter or a toll operator. You should laugh, because this stuff is a joke, and we shouldn't take it seriously."

So far the clear winner of the debate is Candy Crowley.
I look forward to how President Romney is going to get rid of oil imports. We import 80% of our fuel today, it will be neat to see how he finds that fuel inside our borders. |

Another failure of Obama. Failure to throttle energy production.
Domestic oil output is the highest in eight years. The U.S. is producing so much natural gas that, where the government warned four years ago of a critical need to boost imports, it now may approve an export terminal. Methanex Corp. (MX), the world̢۪s biggest methanol maker, said it will dismantle a factory in Chile and reassemble it in Louisiana to take advantage of low natural gas prices. And higher mileage standards and federally mandated ethanol use, along with slow economic growth, have curbed demand.
The result: The U.S. has reversed a two-decade-long decline in energy independence, increasing the proportion of demand met from domestic sources over the last six years to an estimated 81 percent through the first 10 months of 2011, according to data compiled by Bloomberg from the U.S. Department of Energy. That would be the highest level since 1992.

There are no methanol plants planned for La...I work for an engineering firm that deals with Methanol, Ethanol, Paper mills, Chemical plants... When any plant within 1,000 miles goes in we have something to do with it....Plus Gov Jindal has not made any announcements about this
