It has only fell below 60% once, two elections ago.
Quebec is schizophrenic. They don't know what they want. In the end, nothing will ever happen. The more Anglosaxon it becomes, the safer it becomes for the rest of Canada. 1995 is the closest it will ever come to secession.

What the President really said...
This is a report from Bret Baier. One of my favorite reporters. I am also partial to Brit Hume and Charles Krauthammer. I used to be a big Chris Matthews fan but have witnessed him lose his way.
Bret Baier has done some very good investigative journalism. Worth a read in my view.

I've been thinking about the whole 'redistribution' debate recently. It seems that many people (especially those of a Republican persuasion) think this is a mechanism for taking money from those who have 'earned' it to give it to those who haven't. That makes me think about real estate and all of those people whose primary asset is their house. Where, despite recent downturns, values have nonetheless appreciated considerably over the last decade (and beyond). Given that the appreciation of property has happened because the market price has been driven up by banks lending (irresponsibly) to those on the lower (and indeed all) rungs of the property ladder and how the knock on effect of that upward demand has meant an inflation of equity that has been realised by those who have been able to cash in through sale - how is this not 'redistribution'?
The notion that the 'poor' have been ripping off the (hard working) 'rich' is highly problematical. We just need to look at the 'redistribution' of debt over the last decade or so to find out who the net beneficiaries of 'redistribution' really are.
Just some peri-election thoughts I've been pondering. |

I do hate this sort of agitprop "journalism". It purports to "raise important questions" and ends with the phrase "Whatever your politics, there are a lot of loose ends here, a lot of unanswered questions and a lot of strange political maneuvers that don't add up."
The point of journalism is to investigate and answer questions, not just to churn up the mud and spray it around. If the reporter finds "unanswered questions" it is supposed to be their job to find those answers before they write their story! But Fox favors the "people are talking about these disturbing question- next we will talk about these disturbing questions" sort of infotainmnet. Mr Murdoch has gotten very rich selling this product to America, but it is horrid journalism. |

And voting machines always seem to add a couple of non-existent Republicans. |

You do realize there is and never has been a "democrat" vote, just as there is no "republic" vote.
The term is dem·o·crat·ic (dem e-kratâik)
adj.
1.Of, characterized by, or advocating democracy: democratic government; a democratic union.
2.Of or for the people in general; popular: a democratic movement; democratic art forms.
3.Believing in or practicing social equality: âa proper democratic scorn for bloated dukes and lordsâ (George du Maurier).
Democratic Of, relating to, or characteristic of the Democratic Party.
democratically demâo·cratâi·cal·ly adv.
The use of the term "Democrat party" instead of the "Democratic party" is used by Limbaugh and his cadre as the partisan equivalent of flashing a gang sign. It goal is to annoy in hopes of creating a wider partisan split, to create an environment of incivility and rancor. |

If 5% vote for any given third party, federal funding is mandated next cycle.

You want the bumper sticker line ?
GM is alive, Ossama bin Ladden is dead.
I do not expect to convert you to my worldview, I'm just hoping for discourse. |

Best you ask yourself exactly what the other candidate has done that would justify a vote for him.
From the sidelines, I have watched this man shift from pillar to post on so many different occasion that I have come to see him as nothing more than an opportunist who will say anything to get elected.
I could go on, but I do believe you should understand the gist of my comments.

To the folks who disagree with me politically, I say this: I truly respect your right to your own opinions and conclusions, and discourse between differing points of view is part of what keeps this nation free and strong.
Also, I'm right and you're wrong. :-) |

"Since no third party candidate received 5% of the vote in 2008, only the Republican and Democratic parties are eligible for 2012 convention grants, and only their nominees may receive grants for the general election when they are nominated. Third-party candidates could qualify for retroactive public funds if they receive 5% or more of the vote in the general election."
That's the last paragraph on this page. |
