Great site! Visually appealing, good bandwidth, intuitive to navigate, and the gallery is definitely a good series of teasers. Nice job!

I only got one response? Friends I need your help! I need some imput on this website I created it to promote my Wedding Business! Need your thoughts on the layout and your imput on the pictures. This would really help me out in wondering if I could do more. I would greatly appreciate it!

Hi Todd.

I think the reason you may not have Had much feedback is because there really isn't anything to critique. Your site does it's job very well - it's easy to navigate, the buttons and sections are clear to see, the photos show a decent range, and they are of decent quality.

My only change would be to your homepage - get rid of the flash as a lot of people will not have it and replace with a large image or more smaller images.

You want people to like the 1st page enough to want to walk through the door and view your other stuff.

Apart from that, I would probably make it white rather than black - more weddingesq and girls (whom are more likely going to book you) will probably take a liking to clean whites.

But those two things are not that important.

I would agree with Jon about the Flash on the homepage. Something to keep in mind is the load time of pages. I basically have a T1 and I was noticing pauses in some of the pages (homepage and portfolio primarily) loading. If I'm seeing a delay, what are the people on a dial-up connection going to encounter?

I personally like the black baskground and think it works well.

Hey Todd,
I shoot about 15-20 weddings every year. I get about 90% of my buisness online. I agree with the other comments about flash on the home page. I use to have flash running on my home page, and discovered that:
1) It makes it hard for the search engines to locate your page.
2) Not everyone has a high speed connection, so many people will NOT stick around and click through to other pages.

Please check out my site at //www.blacklightphoto.com

I offer a fast link and a slow link, just in case.
Peace and good luck!

Hi Todd - hope this helps:

Postives
> Clean and smart
> Easy to navigate
> Flash movie adds interest
> Images are easy to view

Negatives
> Flash movie keywords are quite heavy (font), not very imaginative and movie looks clipped on the right at beginning
> Spelling error on home page - 'ambience'
> Pop-up images should offer 'Previous' / 'Next' buttons rather than slideshow (I don't like slideshows!)
> Middle 'logo' band is too dominant and overpowering for gentle subject matter: I'd put your name against a complementary (dark) colour or dark grey rather than the grad of white to grey
> Too many images that do not have a 'wow' factor (perhaps cut some of the more ordinary shots?)

I'd also reduce the size of copyright info and credits.

Todd,

Works for me. It's visually appealing, navigates easily, and gives a good tour of your work.

If you decide to "keep" the Flash - consider putting a "skip into" checkbox, considering the returning visitors who probably don't want to see it every time.

Finally, I'd suggest you get something on the RATES page quickly. I'd bet at least half of your visitors would go there first - and be turned off by the "under construction" on rates. It gives a bit of an unprofessional feel - unlike the rest of the site.

Is this necessary as the movie appears on the page with navigable info? I have broadband though so maybe the movie appears first and nothing else?

Personally I feel that Skip Intro buttons are apologetic (and very annoying - see this site! I'd either get rid of the movie or shorten it - depending on what those with a low bandwidth are seeing.

You can have a good intro that is worth watching, but maybe frequent visitors don't want to view it all the time.

Kind of like a playstation game, you see it once but man would it piss you off if you had to watch it every time you booted it up.

That said, I think it's not long enough to warrant a SI button - if you use flash text it should be next to nothing in file size.
