I've looked at previous threads about legal vignettes & borders and I think I am safe, but I wanted some opinions on something like this (not my pic - just an example)

Legal?

I believe so yes, in advanced editing. I can't imagine on what grounds it would not be legal...

We can always make some up in time for the next challenge ... ;-)

That (or similar) should be fine in Advanced or Expert, not legal in Basic or Minimal.

The border patrol won't like it, but I think it's challenge legal.

I don't think it's legal in advanced. You can lighten the border to a degree, but completely eliminating it is a new element. I don't think it would be considered a legal border either, but there may be some leeway there.

It is clearly a border and is not creating new image areas or elements.
