Oh, it is... it goes down so smooth, warms you up from the inside and makes you drunk before you know it.
I'm used to making half-strength liqueurs. This batch is full strength and you have to watch how much you drink. It sneaks up on you. |

Hahaha. Yeah, it snuck up on me. Things sound SO good and look SO good after some of that kumquat vodka. I'm going to make some with lemons tomorrow.
You are all in trouble!! Haha. |

I'm all for a "show off your chicken or panny challenge."
extra rules: photo must be taken under the influence of homemade vodka(for those of age) |

For anyone else that wants to make your own:
I don't know the exact recipe. I made it up, didn't measure and didn't write it down BUT this recipe is forgiving.
I picked about two pounds of kumquats off my tree. I cleaned, quartered and removed the seeds. Then placed them into a gallon-sized glass jar. I then added about one pound of organic brown sugar and 1.5L of a nice but inexpensive vodka (no plastic bottled crap... You don't want to rot out your gut). I stirred it all up, put a lid on it, and placed it in a cool cabinet. I then went to Seattle for nine days, forgot I had made this and voila, when I remembered, it had been about five weeks. So I took it out of the cupboard, stirred it up and waited a couple more days. Finally I couldn't stand waiting any longer so I took out the kumquats (saving them in a jar to mix with goat cheese later) and bottled the liqueur and drank whatever wouldn't fit back into the vodka bottle... And that's when I couldn't stop drinking it. It was even better than I had imagined!!!
I'm going to try this with some fragrant Meyer lemons today but I won't be drinking the lemon vodka for about six weeks.
If you try this, tell us how it turns out... And btw, the vodka laced kumquats are quite good by themselves;-)
