New to this whole thing and not sure where I should do this post. I took pictures of my niece to use for senior pictures and was going to print them through smugmug. When I moved the pictures into my cart and checked the cropping on the diecut wallets it has a blue edge around all 4 sides of the picture that says that area won't print. Has anyone found this to be accurate or is it just the 4 corners of the pictures that don't print? The reason I ask is that on a couple of them I have her head near the top of the frame and the blue edge has some of her head it it. Is there any other way people know how to get around this issue of getting her head cut off? I can't move the crop up any further. |

I have had good success with printing my photos from my smugmug account.
In order to get the results you want, you need to determine the correct crop size of the picture you are intending to print. At smugmug, the wallet size listed is 2.5x3.5 inches. Therefore, you will need to crop the senior photos to be printed to that size prior to uploading. This way you have control on the cropping. Good luck |

Thanks for the reply! What photo program do you use to do the cropping before the smugmug upload? I have a Roxio program I was going to try. I still wonder if her head will still get cut off because it is near the top of the frame so even if I crop it, her head will still show up in the blue unvisible portion of the photo. It's almost like I need to add something to the top of the picture so that gets cut off and not her head. |

I use either Lightroom or CS4. But any decent photo editing software will allow you to select the size you want to make as your final crop.
When taking portraits, it is often good to take the picture a little 'wider' to provide some breathing room for cropping post capture. This way, you can do the final crop so you have options when going to finalize to print. |
