I'm not the first to realize that there is little difference between "homage" and "fromage" |

so, have we come to some consensus on image naming... include the original entry # in parentheses? name the image the same or similar to the original? it would be great if we were all sort of consistent, yes?

dont take it the wrong way but looks like something i would enter just to enter. you say you went out of your way to shoot a decently composed photo but honestly it doesn't show. |
Fair enough. I guess I was simply irate because photos without any actual birds in them, real or metaphorical, finished higher.
There's been 277,374 entries to challenges and I find it hard to believe mine really warrants to be the 34th worst photo of all time |
I'm a bit jealous... I tried to score low a few times, TRIED! to score low.... none of my images are even close to the bottom 1000. |

Just add the original image id to the title and you get a +1 from me :) |

Btw. Since many photographers of the bottom 1000 aren't very active here any more, perhaps it's a good idea to send them a PM when you made a remake of one of their photos. |

I'll have to show you the ropes, I'll be there again once the current round of challenges are over.

speaking of this, is there a way to go to a specific photo on the site based on the ID number? i tried entering it in the photo search page, but nothing come up. i know i can paste a link to a site thumbnail, but it would be nice if during this challenge we could type in the image ID and see the original photo (providing everyone lists it in the title).

Just open another image, and replace the numbers at the end with the new numbers (in the URL bar) |

well, yeah, i guess that would work... it just seems odd that the Search page doesn't work by image ID # |

I'm taking this as: look at the bottom 1000, pick one of the photos, shoot it better. Does not have to relate to the original challenge. Also it's a free study because I'm not looking up each original. |

That's my take as well, but I am giving bonuses for those who include the original imageid, and have at least some sort of solid connection to the original. |

This is what I had in mind when I proposed the idea. A large portion of the voting points relates to the comparison. |

Yup -- I'm hoping people include the original in the title somehow. I think that's the fun of these challenges (like the double take). I had fun looking up the original. :)
Now if we get 250 entries, I'll probably not bother. :)
