I've wanted to do some shots like this since I saw the work done by Carli Davidson last year. It was hot today and Finnigan seemed willing so I thought I'd do a few. I did them in a few sets and the second set I wanted a deeper DOF (trying to get the focus right was hard since he was moving around and I couldn't look through the lensfinder) so I changed down from 1/2000 to 1/1000. It's amazing the amount of blur that showed up. So if you want to try this yourself and freeze it, I suggest 1/2000 or higher.

Very cute!

I have to ask why did you name your dog Finnigan? You're not Canadian but Finnegan is a very famous Canadian dog. :)

Those pictures are great! Thank you for sharing. Maybe I'll setup and see if I can get my bassets to shake their heads for the camera. :)

You might be surprised how many of us in the States are originally from Canada Karen- I'm from Victoria :)

Neat to see Finnigan grown up now Jason. I remember when you first got him, has he gotten over getting motion sickness in the car?
Finnigan is actually looking a lot like my Cairn male Conan now.

Conan is sooo cute in that shot. Yes, Finny is a firm part of the family now. He takes trips with us whenever we go to Seattle. We use a bit of dramamine and that helps him on the five hour ride. He doesn't get sick anymore, but having him sleep makes it easier than having him roam around the car the whole time.

I really want to try this... but my dog is old, has short hair and hates baths!

But speaking of which.... he actually does need one.

fun shot!
