Outtake:
I wish I had my 500 with me the day I took these... the bird shots would've been wonderful... but 200mm just wasn't long enough. |

Do not think it would have made any difference with either image, seems some of the viewer found my foreground bokeh was not large enough. I was happy with both images, but next time I will know what the viewers prefer. |

I had two very different images to choose from. Went with the "prettier" but can't help wondering how the other would have done.

entry, apparently anything would have been better. I went old school to show the way the lens created pleasant light refraction in the foreground, but the depth of the spring was not evident.
heres the outtake.

I pulled my entry because it was sitting at a 4.0 and I figured I obviously had missjudged what foreground bokeh was. And frankly, I was embarrassed. Here's my outtake though.

Not an outtake - but a question.
This is about the best I know how to make an image.
What went wrong?

I wasn't able to enter as I didn't have a computer while away...
But a question: Would this have met the challenge?

All taken around the same time. But the bokeh not impressive and hard to be determine at front or rear.
Some not really bokeh. Quite a tough challenge.

Here is my entry
It have 4 votes of 1's and 4 votes of 2's.
I don't know what wrong make it to deserved such votes.
Could it be focus issue render this entry useless?
How if I do not replace the orientation as of the early entry,
do I get DNMC for sacrifice FG to focus?
