Wow, I can understand how that must be terribly frustrating - it would certainly annoy the * out of me. But you've made the effort to critique (I don't know if Richard has or not, honestly) and you haven't written an ever-so-slightly insulting comment in a scores thread.

On another note, I've never asked for an in depth critique. At first, I was too scared that there would be nothing good to say about my shots, then after a while, I realised you were the only one doing them anyway and I didn't want to add to your work load. One day, one day...

Originally, I had planned to do a 100% comment effort on the birds challenge. My enthusiasm for this was extinguished by only a few images. (Sorry for the idiom, but.... a rotten apple spoils the barrel.) I'm not going to dignify an offensive challenge entry, a mocking effort or a weak effort with a comment of any kind. One thing I've learned over the years here at DPC is to totally ignore some people. They seek attention and act up to draw the attention to themselves. To mix metaphors, I'll let them wither on the vine.

That said, I will try to find some time in a very hectic week upcoming to add some comments where the effort was commendable and the result could have been better with some slightly different approaches.

I was only heckling you Richard, my comment was not serious. I entered my shot knowing that it would not score high. I really intended originally to do something more standard and generally accepted, but I really liked something about the image I ended up submitting.

I do have an image that you may appreciate in the upcoming free study though. :)

Oh Richard, I wasn't asking you to comment more (or less for that matter!), especially if you have a big week lined up. I believe I understand where your comment was directed, but on a quick read, it seemed a condemnation of all that weren't top end quality and as such, came across as slightly insulting. Apologies for reading it that way if it wasn't so intended.

For a long time I've been made aware that my intended sentiment is not communicated well in Internet forums. Also, I seem to be very out-of-sync with the active DPC members. It is becoming increasingly clear to me that I need to step back and walk away from this site for a while. "No good deed goes unpunished" here.

It's okay. My plate is full these days. I actually have little time to sit in front of a computer monitor. No idea why I'm typing this silly message. I'm outta here.

Ah! Now I know what you're talking about, Richard. I hadn't looked through the challenge. Ignore them, they're just being silly. :) Actually, for how much I love bird shots, it's kind of nice having something break up the voting.

I love bird shots too. One of my favorite subjects,but up to yesterday I had nothing and decided to pass. Then I saw some movement outside, grabbed my camera, entered the oven (94 degrees) and tried again. I am afraid the shot I tried so hard to get may be one of the ones Richard was talking about. It was a hard fought shot, and I am insulted that anyone would think I put no effort into my entry. I was up till 9 editing, and I had to be up for work this morning at 3:30. However, I did receive a comment from Richard, so I thank him for leaving it before getting "outta here."

Good! Thanks for putting in the effort to submit an entry to this challenge. Don't know which is yours, but at least I know it's a commendable effort.

Okay that is my first pass. Now to go back and see why the cumulative is kind of low. Must be the thunderstorm we are getting right now. No more 90+ degrees for at least a few days.

Where are you located? We're having a thunderstorm, and we've been in he 90swas too.
