Also great answer, Venser :) I'm going to use that.

To all the people stealing my answer, and I say this as modestly as possible, it's a great pick up line. There's nothing more flattering than taking a picture of a moment in time and letting the other person know why you took it. As long as you sound confident, without uncertainty, there should be no problem. I'm also extremely extroverted and flirt with everyone so that helps.

Great pickup line response indeed, Chris! When delivered with enough confidence, I guess it would effectively negate possible confrontations with female subjects. Works well with me, as most of my street shots are about women. Seldom do I take photos of men on the street, unless they really seem to have a nice story to tell that I just need to capture, such as this guy.

I took that photo several years ago. Barely a year into photography. That guy wasn't actually on the street. But I was. So I guess, the "being in the moment" description of street photography applies here. They were having a religious service of some sort and I just happened to walk by a street near their temple. He was within a private, sacred place. I think I may have crossed some boundaries there. But I will always consider it as among my favorite shots.

Someone posted this link in another thread. This guy shows you everything you need to know at no charge. He does everything except press the shutter for you. Granted he us pretty "in your face" about getting his close up headshots and that mat not be what you are after. But he has talent and us offering free info!!

Those are amazing shots. An amazing portfolio. It's great how he lets his subjects look straight to the camera and capture those wonderful portraits.

Ha! That's my photo and his photo siting side by side at 500px a few minutes ago. Gotta take a screen shot while it lasts :)
