The Australian Senate has just passed legislation that allows for the free trade deal to be enacted, after some changes proposed by the Opposition party being adopted.

Where does this leave Australian Phototographers? Are hardware prices going to drop to prices similar in the USA?

Does this effect copyright, and any rights we have to photograph something?

Hey,
From what I gather (which isn't much...) it will be affecting copyright, with ours coming into line with the US. So photos which were previously copyrighted for 50 years after publication (or if unpublished, indefinantly) will become the life of the author plus 70 years. (Not quite sure on those latter details). I can't imagine that it will affect what we can/can't photograph in Australia, their homeland security laws will still have no effect here. Trademark law will still be applicable in regards to photographing and selling trademarked images, but that's already the case anyway.
