while i read this, went back to my score and dropped another .15 with one vote. what the heck man, it's a holiday in the states you'd think the us voters would be in a better mood

Down .3, but people voting on holidays/weekends usually vote lower. Never quite understood it. Conversely, a lot of times Monday voters are generous -- which I would have thought would be opposite. Maybe we're a bright spot for people on Mondays. And on the weekends, people wish they were doing something else? :D

My guess is weekend/holiday voters have not had time during the week and are voting in a "i have X minutes to do some voting" mindset. Monday voters want something to brighten up the first day of the work week, so anything that distracts them is good, therefore votes go up.
Also, it's only a holiday in the USA if i'm not mistaken (it's not up here in Canada at least), and anything overly patriotic may not have the impact outside of the US the way it does IN the US as many people in other countries do not feel the same way about the USA... honestly, to use a simple comparison, in tv/movies when someone starts to do the pledge of allegiance or invoke the "america is so great" schtick, you get one of two responses - people joining in and feeling proud for their country, or people rolling their eyes/wishing this scene would end". It's no different with photography. If someone took a picture of their country flag and posted it waving in the breeze it would get similar reactions, but not quite the same polarizing degree of it. Anyways, i've rambled/ranted enough, it's food time before a monday afternoon meeting. Blarg. |

It's a holiday in the US, but it's rainy along a lot of the east coast, where a lot of the population lives. A tropical storm coming ashore on a holiday may have a lot of people in a not so good mood.
5.5 for my entry now, and one nice comment.

I'm seeing wide fluctuations too -- from 6.7 at 17 votes, to 6.1 at 22 votes, back up to 6.4 last night, and 6.1 this morning.

Since "average" score here is less than meaningless, I will enter sometimes stuff that I like that know won't score well...
