Battery is charged, so I started to play with my D70 with 24-120 VR zoom. I know the D70 since I have used my friend's camera often, but the lens is new for me. I decided to have this lens because of the range and VR mode. This is just to test the VR on the lens.
The first picture is with VR on
and the second with VR off,
both are crops of that size picture
and taken with 1/8 shutter speed, 3.5 aperture and 400 ISO, no editing. I see the difference, do you agree? Next I am going to find out how low I can go with the shutter speed and still have reasonable sharp pictures. |

I've had mine for several months - and my non-scientific belief is that VR ON gives me 2 stops over VR OFF.
But if you can hand-hold that well at 1/8 second... maybe you should have bought something else. That's pretty awesome for a 120 mm-equivalent lens. |

was the lens at 120mm for those shots? i guess it doesn't matter, because even at 24mm that's still a pretty steady shot for an eighth of a second handheld.

"was the lens at 120mm for those shots?"
This is a good point, it was set on about 35mm. Sorry, I should mention that earlier. |
