I am going on a trip and want to take my lap top as well as my camera. Is there a backpack that you would recommend that would carry both? |

Tamrac makes good photo packs. The models 759 and 5259 may be what you're looking for. I have the Expedition 5 cuz I don't lug a laptop with me, just my 20GB X-drive.

Just yesterday I got a new camera backpack from Crumpler, designed for digital gear. It's an Aussie make. //www.crumpler.com.au/
I'm not so sure how it does oversea but here it isn't just a very cool brand, the stuff they make is tough and last long.

It is for real, man! I got it for the new Nikon D70 pack. Once I got the bag, I packed the stuff and went for a short trip to Sydney's Cicular Quay to test both the camera and the bag. The outcome is this

LowePro CompuTrekker. Roomy, comfortable, and one of the least expensive of the "good" backpacks. It handles a laptop, Digital Rebel, 70-200mm f/4 lens & hood, 50mm lens, 18-55mm lens, 28-105mm lens, 420ex flash, and all sorts of accessories without a problem. |

The Quick Access ports on the side make this an extremely versatile bag -- you don't have to set it down flat and open the "big flap". You can just swing it forward on one shoulder to access your lenses or a flash. It also has a full fold-out waterproof rain cover, as well as a separate smaller "ground cover" that you can pull out when setting it down on (messy) ground. You then stow the ground cover, and you don't have to worry about dirtying your clothes when you put it back on your back... great for when the grass or ground is wet, etc.
