Everytime I see these old construction photos I am awe. Its amazing they were able yo build these structures with that technology.
Just running the cables alone was a continuous process nearly 24 hrs a day,7 days a week, for almost a year. As impressive as that is the anchorage even more impressive.

One week to go until the 75th anniversdary of the Golden Gate Bridge opening ...  
ETA: the Brooklyn Bridge was the subject of Ken Burns' first PBS documentary ...
