Yes, a good mix of challenges would be great, some challenges call for expert that's for sure, but from time to time a minimal would also be cool, all different types to please all people and it will keep us on our toes.

One thing I have to add is that really it's all the same no matter what type of challenge, you have to get it right in camera Yes you can dress the images up a bit more with advanced and expert. But no matter what you dress it in a crappy picture is still going to be bad no matter what you dress it in.

If you're referring to the subject matter not being compelling enough then I agree. As for poor technicals about the only thing that is hard to fix is an image out of focus and wanting to make it sharper but everything else like poor light, color, composition, distractions are pretty easy if you're a good in Photoshop and if you're not then just get good at Blender or some other 3d rendering tool and just fabricate the parts that need replace. Also, not terribly difficult any more.

One problem I have (besides people being up in arms about it), is that you can always edit less, but you can never edit more than rules allow.

True, but it'd be like swimming without the new Fastskin3 in the upcoming Olympics. Sure, some people can win without them, but they aren't the norm.

boy, i'm glad its so easy.

can you actually point to an example where this was done successfully on this site or should we continue to fabricate illogical reasons against expert editing.

You missunderstood. I'm not against expert editing. Long before you joined I was one of its biggest advocates before we had the ruleset.

Nor am I against expert, or advanced. Perhaps one of each category each week, is a potential answer?

I'm really only against all of one flavor. I don't really do expert, but that does not mean that I don't like to see it, or that I don't want to learn it. I only meant to say that if there were no basic, or minimal, that it might be like a closed door to those we seek to interest in joining the site.
