Hmm take a look at the link below I think it's got a few DPC images on it, I am sure the one of the pencil is Gyabans...

Taken a look and some look familiar might be worth looking seeing if theres any you recognise in the actual photgraphy section.

Indeed. It happens very often I'm afraid. I personally don't mind much about it, unless someone claims the photo is theirs and displays it on a highly frequented website (for example, this very photo was in someone's 500px portfolio a few days ago until salmiakki warned me about it). After all I'm not trying to make money out of my pictures, so I keep uploading relatively high resolution files and watch them cruise the web ;)
However, I fully understand those trying to prevent that sort of steal. Must be extremely annoying, to say the least. |

Slick sidetrack, it's not theft, it's copyright infringement. There's a huge difference in how to seek restitution for damages and what can be done legally.
Theft is a criminal matter whereas copyright infringement is civil; extremely important differentiation. You can ask the authorities to pursue your infringement as a criminal matter, chances are unless your mass manufacturing knock off Louis Vitton purses your SOL.

I actually made a second sale of one of my cardinal images that had been posted on some other peoples blog sites. People were somehow able to locate me as the photographer and asked to purchase a canvas print. I dont really market any of my work so getting hits from other places has worked out well for me. I am in the same boat as gyaban though I dont really ever load high res versions. If a site has a link or a photog credit back to me and they themselves are not looking to profit from my work then I don't complain.
Though if I recognize other peoples work I will surely give them a heads up. |

Same here. I'd be honored if someone stole one of my images. |

Ok sorry was only a headsup, personally if someone did copyright infringment on one of my pictures that I might have been able to make some money on to put towards some new equipment I'd be a little upset ;)

No need to apologize. I do appreciate it when people post up links to my work being posted elsewhere and I do the same when I see others. I always give thanks for that. You can look at past threads like these and see that some dpc'ers have made some good money off of their images being used elsewhere but only because someone told them that their work was somewhere else. That is one of the big perks about being in a community like this. Others looking out for others. |

dont apoligize, i great we lookout for each other, i for one don't always check the net for my own images.
i had one of my images features on someone blog but they asked for permission to use it and said they would give me credit. if I had a blog that featured images, I'd have to ask for permission and give credit to the owner it just seems right.
i find it weird that lots of sites don't do that. |
