This is a weird question for you guys. My set up ring is stuck to my tele converter and I am not sure how to get it off withour scratching the glass of the tele converter. Does anyone know a good way to remove this?
What originally happened is that I lent my camera to my sister and the set up ring got stuck to the extension tube for the camera. I found it like that when I got the camera back. But then when I added the tele converter it came away from the extention tube and is now just stuck on my converter.
Its so thin that its hard to get a good grip on it.
If anyone has any ideas, I would really love to hear them. I can;t protect the converter with my lens covers till its removed and it means I can't use my wide angle lens either (they use the same set up ring).
Thanks so much.

Use one of those rubber dealies meant for assisting with opening jars. That will help to give you more turning force without squeezing so hard. Try gripping it in various spots if your first try doesn't work; the slight bending of the ring as you grip it can either help or hinder getting it loose.

And use a little rubbing alcohol to lubricate (alcohol quickly evaporates leaving no residue).

Like kirbic said, but don't grip the step-up ring at all. Put the rubber thiny on your desk/table/countertop, and gently set the lens, step-up ring down, on to the "rubber dealy meant for assiting with opening jars". Now twist your lens, and it should come right off. Just make sure you are twisting the correct way (to the left) so you aren't tightening it even more.
Another trick that sometimes helps is to get a rubber band and put it around the filter/step-up ring that is stuck to help give you some grip. |
