Just wondered if anybody else is headed to Utah for the annular eclipse. scarbrd and I will be joining three other friends of mine and hanging out from Thursday to Sunday night. Should be a great time of landscape photography, astrophotography, and trying to find that perfect location where I can frame the eclipse against a landscape background. David will have his new 4/3rds camera and I finally ordered a nodal rail for panoramas.

the annular eclipse is May 20. Here is a good page on it.

I sure wish I could be there, but that will not happen :-(

I'll be the one not weighed down with heavy unwieldy obsolete camera equipment!

Really looking forward to the trip!

Wow, that really sounds like a lot of fun. Wish I could be there with my heavy outdated gear even (he he), but just can't make it there.
Hope you get the shots you are hoping for, enjoy!

Won't be able to make it to Bryce canyon, but I'll be able to see it here on the morning of the 21st.

Hmmm, I got my Acratech Nodal Rail from B&H today and realized, I have no way to attach it to my tripod. It looks like you need an arca-swiss compatible head that will either allow the quick release plate to slide all the way through or you need a special quick release clamp that will do that and then attach THAT to your arca-swiss compatible head. Either way, suddenly the inexpensive solution to nodal point problems is much more expensive. Plus I'm running out of days before I leave.

Hmmm. Pondering what to do.
