I'ma say that one's iffy, but might be ok. I looked through some past (advanced) challenges and couldn't find anything that "messy" that passed muster, but I didn't look very long. The only requirement in the rules is this: "Your border must be distinct and clearly recognizable as a border" so I would get one of the SC to give an opinion and/or look through the archives for some precedent. |

i wouldn't do it, mainly becuase people will take it upon themselves to police their distaste.. |

Got a validation request on my entry in the upside down challenge, and I'm fairly sure it was because of a similar border. Still waiting to see what SC decides, but it placed so low that it may not be on their radar anymore. Would be nice to know one way or the other. In my opinion, they are ok. They do not add to the perceived image area, and are clearly a border.
Besides, I sometimes enjoy thumbing my nose at the "Border patrol".

It's funny around here... People will vote down for a border, but let DNMC images slide because they are so well shot. They will penalize an original idea, just because someone else actually had the nerve to independently have the same idea in the same challenge (this isn't scattergories) but then reward the same type of shot (wine glasses, water drops, etc.) over and over and over... |
