Greetings! Sorry to load up even more snake/reptile photographs, but this is really what I love shooting. I was lucky enough to find a beautiful coachwhip in my yard last month. Truly a wonderful snake. I tried getting some tight face shots without myself being a part of the photograph (grubby fingers, etc). Anyhow, I think these are my two best shots. 1 is my favorite shot of the snake, but 2 has the better background, I believe. What do you think? What can I do to enhance these photographs without completely altering the actual shot? Is the second photograph actually the better one? Dying to get some feedback here! Many thanks in advance!
-bacchus, oh yee who can'st get off of thy reptilian passion.

Great shots, especially the eyes. Your coachwhips appear to be more gentle than our in the west. They are one of the nastiest biters here, especially the big (six footer or greater) ones.
Thanks for sharing. Van |

Van,
This was about a three-and-a-half (maybe four) footer. Relatively small. She did get a few bites in when I first caught her. And she stayed on her guard, but she did simmer down a bit. I think our racers are probably more bitey than the coachwhips, but they both aren't afraid to use their teeth! It was a trick 'posing' this snake. Not to mention catching her. Very, very, very, fast. Much faster than a large, robust, overweight mammal holding a camera and a tripod! Just got really dang lucky!
