So...there is a secret about that bridge that would be a very good photo op for you. There is an old mill under the highway: N 41° 21.835 W 072° 06.016

Just copy those coordinates into google maps (or just click the link)

Just don't rely on a GPS to get you there. At least, mine had me driving me off the highway into thin air. Take 95 south, exit 84S and keep bearing right until you are heading south and are facing a Stop (or yield) sign to continue onto Williams street. Follow that down to Cole street (it will be before the highway) and there will be signs pointing to Old Mill. There is no parking lot, just find a spot to drop your car. I parked at (41.36364, -72.09933
)

Oh...I should also congratulate you. You are here in CT at a good time. Connecticut is "Still Revolutionary". (inside joke?)

Funny you should mention that since the Beardsley Zoo called me about it just this morning. I came up with "It's closer than you think" as the marketing theme for the zoo several years ago, and then Connecticut used the exact same line to market state tourism. This year the Maritime Aquarium (Beardsley Zoo's main competitor) started using "It's deeper than you think" as their line and CT moved to "Still Revolutionary" for their $29M tourism marketing campaign. Maybe enough people mentioned the similarity that they had to change it, but what a stupid phrase! Makes it sound like we haven't progressed beyond dirt roads and outhouses.

HA! You may be right. There is a road not to far from me....a 4WD vehicle (or horseback) is strongly recommended to pass through it.

Definitely. Though, you may not be snapping as many photos as you will be eating the pizza.

If you are in that area, be sure to walk the grounds of Yale. The architecture of some of those buildings are incredible. Also, head to Savin Rock (West Haven). There is an old carousel there that still works.

I am in New Haven a few times a month, and I never miss a chance to walk a bit extra through the Ivy lined architecture. I just mentioned pizza because of the Mystic Pizza talk.

Thanks for sharing that under bridge location- I will have to drive by and give it a chance.

I wish I could. I'm working Mon-Sat 7am-5:30pm. So anything I do would have to be after hours or on sunday.

Sorry we couldn't all get together guys. I am home now and I must say that I do like it up there. You guys have some very photographic history and I would have loved to get out and see it all. It just wasn't planned out fast enough I guess.

Next time I head that way I'll try and give a more advanced notice.
thanks and sorry everyone.
