I was hoping someone could help me. I am new to this contest and I am having trouble getting my pict to be the right size to be accepted. I made it 480 - 640 and that didn't work. I lowered the size to 40kb and that didn't work. |

hey terry what''s the program you''re using and what exactly doesn''t work?
I just saw in your profile that you have voted on all pix, so that can''t be the problem.

I was using i photo - I guess thats not the best choice. I just got it to work using illustrator, I hope I didn't kill the picture. I took the time to take pictures, and then it was so frustrating not to be able to upload it. Eventually I guess I'll get better at this. |

Terry, do you have any other programs besides Illustrator? If not, I would suggest downloading a trial of Adobe Photoshop Elements at this site and using that for the time being. I looked over iphoto. I don''t have OSX yet but I do use a Mac. As far as I could tell, iphoto only resizes to a few popular sizes. Have you checked preferences to see if there are any other sizes you could use, maybe a manual setting?

that link isn''t working...use this //www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html

Irfanview is one of the handiest free downloads I have ever found. Don't forget to also get the pulg-ins (a seperate free download) It in cludes a reader for the tech info. It can also convert jpegs to tiff and lots more. aelith |

Unless he's running Virtual PC emulation software. |

I am on a Mac os10 - I do have photoshop elements - but its not running properly - I had a trial version of photoshop but it stopped working. I'm in the process of getting photoshop 7. Has anyone heard that there can be problems if you have photoshop and elements loaded on the same machine? I heard that from an instructor at a seminar about it happening on her pc. |

I''m not sure if it''s a prob for everyone....but at work, I had to trash my PS Elements. I started having problems with PS after I installed it. I''ve also had problems running Acrobat 5....had to go back to 4. I''m ready to switch to OSX though...can''t wait to get it.
Usually if you''re having problems with OS 9.1 or 9.2, it''s an extension conflict....there aren''t any extensions anymore though for OSX are there?

Also...you could try this. Make sure PS Elements isn't running. Go to your System folder and open the preferences folder, then find the Adobe PS Elements preferences and trash them. Empty the trash and start Elements again....see if it runs better that way.

I hate to say it, but I don''t know all that much about MACs yet. I bought this great g4 about 3 months ago, and I trying to teach myself. Thats why I''m glad I found this site. I believe that ps elements runs in classic(os9) but as far as extensions - you lost me.

That''s okay Terry...you learn as you go with a Mac usually. I''ve learned just a few things over the last couple of years...after hours and hours on phones with techs.
According to Mac Help (found under the help menu) extensions are just small programs that add to or enhance the programs you are running. Usually, you may have extension conflicts when you load a new program. They don''t "get along" with one of the other extensions...there is a whole process to go through to start up without extensions and then turn them off and on....but.....this is all moot because OSX doesn''t use extensions. So you shouldn''t have to worry about that. Try the preferences thing with your Elements first....see if that helps.
Then again..if you''re running Elements in classic mode then I guess you could...dang...I don''t know....I''d have to have OSX in front of me and unfortunately, I haven''t been able to work with it. I hope something I''ve said helps....

Also..there are some really great tutorials under the "help" menu at the top....which is where you''ll also find Mac Help too. I''m no expert on Macs....but if you ever need any help...feel free to contact me via email....my address is karson31@hotmail.com
If you just bought your G4 in the last 3 months, you may want to check out the apple website (www.apple.com) and see if there are any updates you need to download.
