Why is the Nikon CoolPix 5400 built so that the viewfinder has NOTHING to do with the actual shot? The LCD screen is the only option, since the viewfinder shows an area to the side of and above the actual image! Anyone else run into this issue? I usually use the LCD, but sometime the viefinder is the way to go, and the Nikon just doesn't cut it there.

My Coolpix 995 is the same way; the black square intended to rame the image area is off the right & bottom edges of the finder area. Now ther's going to be a little parallax, but the viewfinder is prety darn close to the lens on these cams.
My interpretation is that the viewfinder and lens system are not really ever fine-aligned, just roughly aligned, then the screen is placed where the ccd image corresponds to the viewfinder at some particular distance.
