I've decided to post this photo again.
Sulphur-Crested Cockatoo
Reason#1: I see far too many bald eagles on this site, and I'm restoring the balance. This is the Aussie bald eagle. Hear it Screech. I encourage people from other nations to post their idea of a national symbol in it's full glory!
Reason#2: It didn't get nearly enough attention last time to satisfy me.

Every afternoon about 4pm I hear about 30,000 (exageration) of these little darlings. They are very loud but love them all the same. |

Unfortunately, Wedge-tailed eagles aren't exactly plentiful. I could quite easily get shots of sea eagles, but I'd need much more focal length...
lentil: Do you by any chance live on the eastern coast?? It seems they are most raucous there/here... |

There were a lot around where I used to live. They'd fly over in flocks of thousands at a time. We'd tell visitors "never look up with your mouth open" :P
We didn't like them so much, they can strip an entire field of wheat in about 15 minutes. Individually I like them though...

I live in Avalon, so just over the water from you. I'm just up the road from Careel Bay Wharf.
Correct me if i'm wrong, but the reason there are so many cocky's along the eastern coast is that years ago (20-25??) there was a prolonged drought, and alot of these cockatoos flew east to the coast. There they fed, bred, and squawked their lungs out, and never went home. |

I have heard something similiar, we get a few early morning visits a week i love watching them but they can be a bit distructive if they find the right thing to chew up. |
