I noticed a sad trend of less and less votes cast in challenges (look below for an example).

I have seen some challenges have less than or close to 100 entries in 2012 and it would be great if the number of votes would be double the number of entries. Take Coffee 2011 for example - 240% participation!!!

Wouldn't it be wonderful to get that level of participation back? Well, what are you waiting for - go vote!!!!

Look good voting trend from the first 12 challenges of March 2011

Batteries...... Entries - 64...... Average number of votes - 216 ...... Percentage 337%
Two Colors...... Entries - 117...... Average number of votes - 142...... Percentage 121%

It might be interesting to do a comparison between this and the number of threads dealing with trolls and the incessant bitching about low scores and attempt to determine if there is a correlation.

Ray, if you mean that the low votes have more sway in challenges that have low voter participation, I think that there *is* some correlation....but how much and to what degree is an unknown.

Regardless - there HAS been a drop in voting participation. That is clear.

And the remedy? Show site participation!!! Go vote...and maybe leave a few comments on the way:-)

My apologies Ray, I meant that last portion to be directed at those who may be suffering from apathy or just want everyone else to vote rather than voice their opinion :-) I know you vote - geez, your cast numbers make me look like a newbie (the recent past dozen challenges I have made it a point to vote on all) :-)

Your comparison is not really all that valid. There were two open challenges each week in 2011 and only one now. Many people will not vote on challenges they entered. Last year they could enter one challenge and vote the other. Now the choice is vote or enter.
