When citing the Bible do you need the page number if you put the chapter and verse number?
Example - In Leviticus chapter nine, verse eleven says, "âYou shall not steal; you shall not deal falsely; you shall not lie to one another.â
Would I need to find a page number for that? Or just leave it alone because I have exactly where I found it?
I couldn't find an answer online anywhere so I thought I would come here out of a last resort type of thing...
Anyone up to date with how to do citations properly?
P.s. - I am doing this paper in APA format. |

Considering different printings of the Bible use different size fonts, and page sizes, the common thread amongst all of them is chapter and verse. John 3:16 is the same in any copy. Page 411 is not necessarily so... |

I posted this as a facebook status and got the same response from a Ministry Major student! You're good! Lol.
She said she turned her last paper in with a bible quote without the page number and didn't get any points off. So I am just going to not put a number and see how it goes. :)
Thanks! |

This page has what I believe you need, in the section entitled Common Formats.

Yup, I'd agree with Alex however, if you felt the need to give the page number then you should also give the printer/year? |

I am talking about within the paper... Not on the Works Cited page.
The link that Kirbic gives is perfect! |
