What about we all band together choose a time and we all shoot our hearts out for 1 minute and enter our favorite shot. We could put it to some kind of vote and come up with a time that could be most convenient for the most amount of people. Make it a speed challenge but give some headsup so people can get cameras, watches, and phones kind of synched.
Wouldn't it be cool to have 100 different shots from 100 different places but all taken at the same time? |

I like the basic idea, but have a clarification question. Do you mean like 3pm for everybody...or one very specific minute i.e. its 3pm in one timezone and 7pm in another?
Because that makes a big difference |

I mean all at one exact time, so yeah the timezone thing would be a complication. But I think it's one we could overcome. Some of us would be shooting in the afternoon and some of us in the evening.
The EXIF data would verify that the photos were taken at the proper time. I think most cameras can verify time of day, I could be wrong though. |

just pick a time. no time will be convenient for everyone. if people can and want to participate they will. |

It sounds like a fun idea but a validation nightmare -- I for one don't want to be DQing an image where the photographer pre-focused at the assigned minute, but during the time they re-frame and press the shutter the camera's clock clicks over to the next ... not to mention that people can just set their camera to any time they darn please and take a picture.
Just make it a side challenge and you will have only willing participants with no motivation to cheat.

Yeah, what Mike said...
I think it would be interesting to see images from all over the world, taken at the same instant.
Have a random draw for the server time and away we go...

Thats a good idea. I was hoping for a challenge but if the logistics make it too complicated then a side challenge would be cool too.
It sure would be cool to see a bunch of shots from all around the world taken at the same minute. |
