Complete novice here!
I have an Olympus Camedia c750 digital camera with 10x optical zoom. I just started up a high school wrestling site and wanted to get some action shots for it. I've been to several tournaments this summer and my pictures just plain stink. Here is the long and short of it:
These are - of course - all indoor pictures in high school gymnasiums. When I photograph a wrestling match without a flash, the lighting is perfect but the image is completely blurred. When I use a flash, the focus is perferct, but it is way too dark. This happens in any of the preset modes on the camera. I though maybe the popup flash was not producing enough light, so I bought an external flash. Even went the extra mile to order the one Olympus makes specifically for their camedia cameras. While it did improve a little, the difference is barely noticable. I also tried adjusting the flash intensity thorough the camera's menus, but that didn't seem to do anything.
Here are some examples:

Can anyone offer some tips on improving these awful pictures?

Can you get closer or if the flash has a remote trigger then try to get the flash closer.
try a higher iso setting.
If you have manual mode set to the lowest F number you can and try diffrent shutter speeds. Use a tripod if you can or monopod. |
