I just came back from Canada and went to a real photographic shop to see MKII and MKIII. MKII fitted into my hand like a glove, MKIII felt too bulky. The salesman owned MKII himself and said he was not planning to upgrade to MKIII because he thought new features weren't worth the price difference. He's into car racing photography and thought about downgrading to non FF 7D as he needs a very fast camera and 7D is faster than 5D. I don't need that so I was sold on 5D MKII.
Since I don't buy in real shops any more I looked for the best deal I could get on 5D MKII body. I discovered that I could use my Velocity frequent flier points (accumulated from few years of using a credit card, the best deal is usually to redeem them on a flight but, unfortunately, they usually want me to fly on the dates that don't suit me!) So I finished using all my points and paying just $800 for my new FF camera! Unfortunately it is Easter and I have to wait till next week for delivery. Looking forward to taking photos with it!! :)
I ordered a compatible second battery, a CF Sandisk 16GB Extreme, a CF card reader, a SD Extreme CF card adapter (instead of the second CF card, works out cheaper and I usually don't need a second card on a shootout), all this from Hong Kong via eBay at low cost. Anything I missed that is specific to 5D MKII body? |

If you're in UK, I found mine for £330 less than list price... |

Annoyingly, they've already dropped the price - now £400 off.
(mine came in a kit box minus the 24-105mm lens) |

| I am going to wait for the 16-bit 32 MP MKIV for single image HDR without the need for bracketing ;) |
