I would like to thank Dirt_Diver for setting up this side challenge. I found myself out shooting more than normal just to get another bird. As a result, I have added several new species to my list of birds that I've seen in my lifetime! There are so many good bird people here in this side challenge and I want to thank all of you for sharing your bird images with the rest of us. A special thanks to Richard hahn23 for his help identifying and adding some very useful info about so many of the birds than were shown here. Thanks for all of the comments given as well. It truly adds to the 'side-challenge' experience when you receive so much feed back on your work. I have some additional images in my workshop folder that I'll add Tuesday.

A little tale of predator and prey. Notes are included with each image.

I'd like to thank Dirt Diver too. I didn't really keep up as much as I'd have liked to, but I've enjoyed seeing the exotic birds and I've learned a bit about some of our own, as well. Thanks everyone who has shared their pictures and comments.

Nice series, Scott. I hope the dove stayed safe, but I also realize that everything has to make a living, and the peregrine falcon depends on prey. Maybe he went and found a nice rat dinner instead. (Oh, poor little rat!)

Thanks, Dirt_Diver, for arranging this side challenge. I thoroughly enjoyed all the birds and the nice people participating. I got to know some people much better through sharing/exchanging bird photos. This was amazingly educational and I have actually spotted some birds here after I was made aware of them from photos of the same species thousands of miles away. I also enjoyed doing an almost complete inventory of the birds of RMNP in April 2012. I missed photographing a few, but I got most of them. Of course, this morning I've already seen the hummingbirds and the Cooper's Hawk, but it's now May and the side challenge is over. Thanks to all for your great photos and participation. If any of you ever visit RMNP, please contact me. I'd love to do some birding with you.

You're more then welcome. BTW sorry I haven't been around much I really didn't think I would be as busy as I am... As soon as I can get around to doing it I will still update all the images and post a winner. Thanks to everyone for all the wonderful bird pictures. I will also attempt to comment on all of them as well. It was my intent from the very beginning anyway.

This one doesn't count!
... Mojito

Thanks to Dirt_Diver for organizing this fun side challenge! I was amazed at the diversity of birds that were posted. Also, thanks to everyone who took the time to comment. My goal was to comment on every image, I'm almost done but I'm running out of adjectives to describe them ( great capture, nice, cute, sweet... LOL!)
I was surprised at some of the birds that I was lucky enough to photograph, it's amazing what you can see when you really look!

I too want to thank Dirt_Diver. As a result of looking for birds for this, my first, side challenge - I got my personal best and honorable mention in a challenge. I had a lot of fun doing this and am sorry I fizzled out the last week - too much going on. Everyone had such beautiful birds in their area (even in the zoos) and the comments were so kind.

Yes, it was fun. I had hoped to get some wild Japanese birds, but the weather has been mostly rather dull ... and I'd have trouble identifying them. Here's the link to my bird gallery in my portfolio.

Yep, thanks so much Joseph for doing this. I just wish I could've taken out more time and gotten some of the endemic and indigenous birds here.

These are the last of the images that I took in April. I uploaded them to my workshop yesterday and I finally had the time to edit the titles and add a few comments. If these don't count then so be it. Just never enough time :-/
