The two images above the "image removed" are ties and share a place. |

It's true what has been said. What hasn't been suggested is a reason for the spate of ties. I don't pretend to know, but I think we have fewer voters. And, couple the paucity of votes with smaller number of entries and the chance of mathematical ties increases. Just a speculation on my part. |

Actually, ties were never figured into the formula before. If there was a tie for 1st through 3rd place, ribbons were awarded manually. And then it was only if someone noticed and complained. Now, it's programmed in which is why now the ties are figured throughout the whole challenge. |

Couldn't ties be decided based on who gets more higher scoring votes?
See which image garners more 10s, if tied, compare 9s, if tied, .....
That would be fair and it'd be easy to implement.

Only if the same amount of people voted on each photo, though.
What if there was a tie, and one person received more votes than another, possibly increasing the chances of more 10s, 9s, 8s, etc for one photo over the other.
Hope this came out clear... it made sense in my head. lol

This is a bug. The reason you didn't used to see it is because there didn't used to be a bug. |

They don't necessarily need the same number of votes, but your suggestion could be one also. Decide based by my proposed method or choose the photo with more votes, a la dyridings. Mathematically, off the top of my head, I can't see a compelling reason to either dismiss or endorse one suggestion unequivocally. I'll think about it some more and see if there's a logic flaw in either proposed method.
