Hello.

I've been looking for a big enough bag to accomodate my all my gear for a while. I really don't want a backpack because access issue. I've settled on the Lowepro Stealth Reporter 500 AW and I was wondering if you guys had any experience with it. The description on the Lowepro website is awesome but it doesn't say wether the shoulder strap is padded or not.

PS. On a different note, I want to get a padded neck strap for my Digital Rebel, any suggestions?

your choice of bag looks great. it looks very similar to the tamrac pro 8 i bought when i first bought my camera. i love the shoulder style; i personally found the backpack to be loathesome in its access and general ease of use. (since it is a shoulder bag, i would assume padding, but that's certainly worth checking into.)

this type of bag travels well too--i make it my carry-on bag in national and international travel and always feel assured that my gear is quite safe and sound.

I originally bought the Lowerpro Stealth Reporter 500 AW and took it back after getting it home and seeing how HUGE it was. I exchanged it for the 300 AW, and am glad I did. When it is packed full of my gear, it is very heavy; I can't imagine lugging around an even bigger bag with even more stuff in it.

But in answer to your question, yes, the strap is padded.

I mentioned in another thread that I recently picked up a Tenba DB-15C because of a recent trip that involved air travel and not wanting to be bothered carrying both a camera and a laptop bag. I like it so much, that I haven't switched back to the 300 AW since I got it! The Quick Access Ports on the side make it great to access up to 4 lenses (or 3 lenses and a flash) without having to lay it down and open it up. Plus, I can stow my body with any of my lenses still mounted if I so desire. With the 300AW configured to fit my usual selection of lenses, I always had to store the body by itself (which is technically better anyway, but a pain when just want to stow it for 20 minutes while you grab a bite to eat or something.)

P.S. The DB-15C comes with a removable, padded waist support.
